Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee
On September 15, 1960 the Town of Highland officially kicked off its massive four-day Diamond Jubilee festival, celebrating its 50th anniversary of incorporation in 1910 with pageants, a souvenir program, and the proud (if slightly exaggerated) promotional title of "Indiana's largest town."
98% Success Rate: Inside Lake County's Teen Court as It Prepares to Grow
Teen Court, a Crisis Center program based at the Highland Police Department, offers Lake County youths an alternative to formal juvenile proceedings for lower-level offenses. The program serves about 250 participants a year, reports a 98% success rate and is preparing to expand to a second location in the county.

Hard Rock Casino Donates to Suicide Prevention Walk in Wicker Park
Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana has donated funds to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in support of the "Out of the Darkness Northwest Indiana" walk on Oct. 3 at Wicker Park in Highland. The event, one of 400 nationwide, raises money for suicide research, advocacy, and education programs across the region. Local organizers and casino officials emphasized the importance of community connection and support for those affected by suicide.
