Highland's 20-Year Game Plan Heads to a Final Vote
What should Highland look like 20 years from now? That's the question behind the Town's proposed Comprehensive Master Plan, a long-term guide for development, housing, transportation and community investment.
Nearly two years in the making, the plan incorporates community input, including 493 survey responses, 40 stakeholder interviews and public events. Its proposed priorities include revitalizing downtown, improving street connections and safety, expanding housing options, enhancing parks and amenities, and guiding future spending.
After clearing the Plan Commission, the plan is scheduled to go before the Town Council for a final vote Monday, September 28. Residents can review the draft on the Town's website before the vote.

Pedal, Spook, Repeat: Highland’s Fright Ride Returns for Year Four
Dust off your bike and your best costume because Highland Parks & Recreation’s fourth annual Fright Ride rolls through town Friday, October 2! The 7.5-mile nighttime ride starts and finishes at Main Square Park, welcoming cyclists of all skill levels, with children under 12 accompanied by an adult.
Costumes, helmets and bike lights are strongly encouraged, and riders can enjoy two rest stops along the route while Highland Police assist with traffic. Check-in runs from 5:30–6:45 p.m., with the ride beginning at 7 p.m.
Pre-registration is $23 through October 1 and includes a goodie bag and hot dog dinner, although commemorative shirts are sold out. Day-of registration is $15, cash only, and covers the ride without the extras.
