School Town of Highland Welcomes New Superintendent Dr. John Schwuchow
The School Town of Highland has named Dr. John Schwuchow as its new superintendent, bringing him back to the community where his education career began.
Schwuchow started teaching at Southridge Elementary School from 2000–2008 before moving into administrative roles, including principal, curriculum director, and most recently superintendent of the Winnebago Community Unit School District.
He holds degrees from Indiana University and Aurora University, along with an administrator license from Purdue University Calumet. Schwuchow says he’s looking forward to reconnecting with Highland, working with students and staff, and getting to know families across the district. The School Town of Highland is welcoming him back as he begins this new chapter leading the district.

Fall Fun Returns to Scheeringa Farms This Weekend
Scheeringa Farms is kicking off its fall season on Saturday, September 19, with the return of its family-friendly fall activities in Highland.
Visitors can expect favorites like the corn maze, petting zoo, bounce houses, corn pit, photo spots, hayrides, and barrel train. Wristbands are $13 for ages 2–17 and $6 for adults, with animal feed sold separately.
The farm’s fresh donuts also make their seasonal return, available Fridays and Saturdays in September before going daily in October.
For Highland families looking for an easy way to get into the fall spirit close to home, Saturday marks the official start of the season at the farm..
