Highland Fire Department Earns Improved ISO Class 3 Rating
The Highland Fire Department has improved its ISO Public Protection Classification from Class 4 to Class 3, placing it among roughly the top 12% of rated fire departments and fire-protection areas nationwide at Class 3 or better.
The rating looks at everything from staffing, training, equipment, dispatch, and water supply to fire prevention, public education, and investigation programs.
The department credits the improvement to the work of firefighters, officers, dispatchers, Public Works, water-system staff, Town officials, and other community partners.
For residents and business owners, the new rating could also matter financially, since some insurance companies use ISO classifications when setting property insurance premiums. The exact impact will depend on the insurer, policy, and property, but some Highland property owners may see a benefit from the stronger rating.

Mrs. Roper Takes Over Highland for a Groovy Thrift Crawl
The America’s Antique Mall in Highland is bringing a little Three’s Company fun to Saturday with its Mrs. Roper’s Romp Thrift Crawl from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shoppers are encouraged to channel Helen Roper with bold prints, oversized earrings, and plenty of 1970s flair while exploring the mall’s many vendor booths.
The afternoon includes a walking bingo treasure hunt, raffles, giveaways, photo opportunities, and extra chances to win for anyone who comes dressed for the theme.
Located at 8311 Indianapolis Blvd., the sprawling indoor antique mall gives visitors plenty to browse whether they dress up or simply come along for the hunt. It’s a quirky way to spend part of Saturday indoors while discovering vintage finds and local vendors right here in Highland.
