Pedal, Play & Give Back at the Tri Kappa Bicycle Poker Run
The Munster-Highland Tri Kappa Bicycle Poker Run returns Sunday, September 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., combining a leisurely bike ride with local breweries, coffee shops, and a little friendly competition.
Starting at Fuzzyline Brewing in Highland, cyclists can set their own pace and choose their own route through Highland, Munster, and Griffith, collecting a playing card at each of eight participating establishments.
Riders return to Fuzzyline to submit their poker hands, with prizes awarded to the top three hands at 4 p.m. Registration is $30 per rider or $50 with an event T-shirt, and the afternoon wraps up with an afterparty.
All proceeds benefit Munster-Highland Tri Kappa charities and scholarships. Grab some friends, explore local favorites, and enjoy a Sunday ride that gives back to the community!

Highland Waives Building Permit Fees for August Storm Repairs
Homeowners have until December 1 to apply for temporary permit fee relief on eligible repairs.
Highland homeowners still repairing damage from the August 11 storm may qualify for a temporary waiver of general building permit fees under Town Ordinance No. 1856. The waiver runs through December 1, 2026, but does not cover electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other specialty permits.
Homeowners must provide the required insurance and contractor documentation, including proof that they're working with a Highland-licensed contractor.
Applications can be submitted through the Town's Building & Inspection Department at the Highland Municipal Building, 3333 Ridge Road.
Before hiring someone or applying, residents should check the Town's licensed contractor listings and confirm which permits and documents their repairs require. The temporary waiver offers some financial relief as Highland families continue rebuilding after August's storm.
